StrainSense linear potentiometers are now available with mechanical protection for the moving shaft.
A carbon fibre sleeve in mounted to the moving end to prevent objects, eg stones, from damaging the shaft. The protection makes little difference to the sensor weight with a 50mm stroke 9.4mm diameter unit adding only 5g
Typical applications include monitoring suspension for autosport, vehicle testing and agricultural machinery.
