Laser Sensor Enables Accurate Displacement, Distance & Position Measurement

With the integrated Industrial Ethernet interface (EtherCAT), Micro-Epsilon's optoNCDT 1900 laser sensor is advantageous for high speed processes and the networking of several devices and machines. By DA Editor / 23 May 2022

Micro-Epsilon has introduced the new optoNCDT 1900 laser triangulation sensor with EtherCAT, a powerful sensor solution for use in factory and plant automation.

The sensor enables highly accurate displacement, distance and position measurements in a wide range of measurement tasks while offering high cost-effectiveness.

The innovative optoNCDT 1900 laser sensor is used for dynamic displacement, distance and position measurements and impresses with its high speed, compact design and accuracy. The latest sensor generation is now even smarter – thanks to the integrated EtherCAT interface.

With the integrated Industrial Ethernet interface (EtherCAT), the sensor offers advantages especially for high speed processes and for the networking of several devices and machines. The integration via EtherCAT into a bus system can be carried out according to standard protocols (TCP, UDP, FTP) and thus facilitates the communication. Thanks to direct data output via EtherCAT, the measured values are available in real time. An oversampling function also contributes to fast acquisition of measurement values. This allows measurement data to be transferred four times faster than the cycle time of the PLC.

In addition, the sensor is equipped with an intelligent surface control feature. The Advanced Surface Compensation feature operates with new algorithms and enables stable measurement results even on demanding surfaces. In addition, the sensor is extremely resistant to ambient light and can also be used in strongly illuminated environments.
