New ‘Super-Lightweight’ Carbon Fibre & Titanium ‘Long-Life’ Linear Position Sensors for Motorsport

By DA Staff / 05 Oct 2012

Magni-Tec MHL1300 SeriesMagni-Tec Sensing Technology has developed the worlds first carbon-fibre/titanium constructed linear position sensor for motorsport. The MHL13C sensor, based on aerospace technology, offers a weight reduction saving up to 50% compared to conventional sensor designs. Coupled with Magni-Hall contactless technology, it is one of the lightest and most reliable of its type available in motorsport.

The slim-bodied MHL13C sensor, which mounts and operates just like a potentiometer, is a versatile ‘long-life’ sensing solution for a variety of applications that experience severe shock and vibration, or suffer from fluid and debris contamination. The sensor is sealed to IP68 & IP69K. The super-lightweight sensor, designed in conjunction with Japanese race engineers, has a measurement range up to 200mm (8”) and operates from a 5V regulated or 8-30V unregulated supply. The output signal over the measurement range is 0V-5.0V. Mounting options including spherical rod-end bearings, quick-release ball-joints or body clamps. The customer can specify the measurement range when ordering (in 1.0mm increments).
